Photograph signed: "Barry Morse/1939". Sepiatone, 3½x5½, mounted on 5¼x6½ album leaf. Pencil caption (unknown hand) below photo: "The Court Players". Affixed on verso is another signature: "Best wishes/Len Clifford", 3¼x3¼ slip, with unsigned photo image (blue-hued b/w, 2x3) affixed to its left. "& Jan" written in unknown hand below Clifford's signature. Actor BARRY MORSE (1918-2008) established himself on the British stage and television before moving to Canada, where he earned the sobriquet, "the Laurence Olivier of Canada." Morse became well known to American TV audiences when he played Lieutenant Gerard, relentless pursuer of The Fugitive (1963-1967). Morse has remained a familiar face on television, with roles which included the series Space: 1999 (1975-1977) and Israeli Prime Minister Begin in the miniseries Sadat (1980). Morse was married to actress Sydney Sturgess from 1939 until her death in 1999. LEN CLIFFORD, a British stage actor, performed with "the Granada Babes" in the 1940s. Morse photo: Corners and edges slightly worn. Small stain on bottom left edge. Otherwise, fine condition. Clifford signature: Corners and edges lightly worn and creased. Brown marker scribbled across signature and backing sheet, but signature still legible. Lightly soiled. Backing sheet heavily toned and creased. Left edge of backing sheet frayed. Otherwise, fine condition.
