Batman, created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, first appeared in "Detective Comics" in 1939; Batman was featured in his own comic book series in the spring of 1940. Film versions were made in 1943 and 1949 before West and Ward brought the popular duo to life on television. In 1965, ADAM WEST (1928-2017) was cast as millionaire Bruce Wayne, aka "The Caped Crusader", in TV's smash hit Batman. Although he vowed to distance himself from the role after the series was cancelled in 1968, West lent his vocal talents to two animated series: The New Adventures of Batman (1977) and Batman: The New Adventures (1992). He also expressed disappointment over not being offered a cameo role in Batman: The Movie (1989). BURT WARD, who portrayed Wayne's teen-aged ward, Dick Grayson/Robin, in the TV series, reunited with West in the 2003 made-for-TV movie, Return to the Batcave: The Misadventures of Adam and Burt. Fine condition. Framed in the Gallery of History style: 15¼x20½.
