Signature: "Beatrice Lillie". 2¾x1½ card. Canadian-born comic
Lillie (1894-1989) moved to England in 1914, where she became a music
hall favorite. She had a radio program after World War II. Lillie's
Broadway debut was in This Year of Grace (1927), written for her
by her friend Noel Coward. The last of her occasional film appearances was
in Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967). She married Sir Robert Peel
(1898-1934) in 1920. Lillie was nominated for two Tony Awards for her
performances in Ziegfeld Follies of 1957 (1957) and High
Spirits (1964-1965).Lightly toned, soiled and creased. Light
impression at top edge touches signature. Folded in half and unfolded. Otherwise
in fine condition.
