Triangular piece of paper signed by Tony-nominated comedienne
Beatrice Gladys Lillie
Signature: "Beatrice Lillie". Pencil notations in top left
corner. 6¼x3 triangular slip. Canadian-born comic Lillie (1894-1989)
moved to England in 1914, where she became a music hall favorite. She had
a radio program after World War II. Lillie's Broadway debut was in This
Year of Grace (1927), written for her by her friend Noel Coward.
The last of her occasional film appearances was in Thoroughly Modern
Millie (1967). She married Sir Robert Peel (1898-1934) in 1920. Lillie was
nominated for two Tony Awards for her performances in Ziegfeld Follies of
1957 (1957) and High Spirits (1964-1965).Lightly toned.
Irregularly trimmed. Light dent in top left corner. Otherwise in fine
condition.
