her account as Lady Beatrice L. Peel at Empire Trust Company, payable to
"Lobster Pot Gallery" for "one hundred and fifty dollars".
Canadian-born comic Beatrice Lillie (1894-1989) moved to England in 1914,
becoming a music hall favorite. She had a radio program after World War II.
Lillie's Broadway debut was in This Year of Grace (1927), written for
her by her friend Noel Coward. The last of her occasional film appearances
was in Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967). She married Sir Robert Peel (d.
1934) in 1920. Bank stamps on both sides, lightly touching signature. Otherwise,
fine condition.
