Dracula, with Lugosi (1882-1956, born Béla Ferenc Dezsõ Blaskó in Lugos, Austria-Hungary, now Lugoj, Romania) in the title role, opened in Broadway's Fulton Theatre on October 5, 1927 and ran for 261 performances. After a successful run, Lugosi and Dracula went on tour across the country. Lugosi went to Hollywood to star in the film version of the play, released on February 12, 1931, and appeared in subsequent stage revivals. This program is from one of those revivals, as the centerfold has photos from Lugosi's later movies, including Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943). Lugosi is pictured as Dracula on one of a set of five 32-cent U.S. commemorative postage stamps, issued in 1997, celebrating "Famous Movie Monsters". Lightly toned and creased. Cover lightly worn at edges. Spine is heavily worn with 7¼-inch paper separation along lower portion. Signed photo page is slightly soiled. Staple is rusted. Otherwise in fine condition.
