BELLE SOMMERS MOVIE CAST
A publicity photograph from the 1962 film, signed by the two actors
Printed Photograph signed in Ink: "Best always/David Janssen" in blue ink "Polly Bergen" in black ink, b/w, 10x8. DAVID JANSSEN (1931-1980), who began his film career in 1945 with It's A Pleasure, was best known for his roles on the small screen. In fact, the prolific Janssen had appeared in some 32 films before appearing on TV. He starred in Richard Diamond, Private Detective (1957-1960), The Fugitive (1963-1967), O'Hara - U.S. Treasury (1971-1972), and Harry O (1974-1976). Moreover, he was in over 30 made-for-TV films and appeared as a guest star on a number of TV series. Janssen won the 1966 Golden Globe for Best TV Star- Male for the role of Dr. Richard Kimble in The Fugitive. He died of a sudden heart attack in 1980 at the age of 48. Singer-actress POLLY BERGEN (b. 1930) was dissatisfied with the roles Hollywood offered her in ten films of the early 1950s, including three Martin and Lewis vehicles, so she left for New York to pursue a stage career and record several albums of popular standards (most notably Bergen Sings Morgan and The Party's Over (1957). She returned to film in 1962, beginning with Cape Fear (1962). Robert Mitchum, her tormentor in Cape Fear, would later play her husband in the TV miniseries Winds of War (1983) and War and Remembrance (1988). Bergen has authored three books, assisted many charities, and promoted her own lines of cosmetic and jewelry products. Corners lightly worn and creased. Gently bowed. Slightly toned. Left edge creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
