In full: "With all good wishes to the faculty and students of the Special Education Department, Clute, Texas." In 1949, President Truman appointed Ben C. Connally, a grandson of a Confederate officer and a son of longtime U.S. Senator Tom Connally, to a new seat in the Southern District. On October 15, 1957, Judge Connally ordered desegregation of Houston public schools "with all deliberate speed". He served as Federal Judge until 1975. Horizontal fold touches signature. Fine condition.
