BEN HOGAN and OTHERS. Typed DS: "W. Ben Hogan", "Gary B Laughlin" and "Phillip E. Laughlin" on page 3, 4p, 8½x14, separate sheets. Houston, Texas, 1984 November 26. Headed: "Gas Division Order". Referencing Hogan's rights to gas and gaseous substances on a property under the lease name of "Eison" in Comanche County, Texas. In part: "The Undersigned, and each of them, certify and guarantee that as of the effective date set out below, they are the legal owners of the interest set forth opposite their names below and not other interests, unless specifically noted below...and hereby certify that they are entitled to payment, in the proportions set forth below, for all gas, condensate, distillate and other gaseous substances...produced and/or sold". The second page discusses five points regarding the sale of the gas, and the third page discusses the binding nature of the agreement. An "Exhibit A" is affixed as page 4, and lists the working interests of Hogan and the Laughlins as well as two other parties. Lightly creased. Staple holes at upper left corners. Pencil notes (unknown hand) at upper margin of first page. Information pertaining to Hogan is highlighted in yellow. Fine condition. Accompanied by TLS: "W.M. Chantry" as Agent, 1p, 8½x11. Fort Worth, Texas, 1984 November 26. This letter from Wendell M. Chantry references the Gas Division Order and requests that Hogan sign on the spaces indicated. Slightly creased with folds, not at signature. Staple holes at upper left margin. Fine condition. With Typed Letter, unsigned, 1p, 8½x11. Fort Worth Texas, 1984 November 26. Letter from Wendell M. Chantry, Agent, to Pride Pipeline Company, Abilene, Texas, regarding the Oil Division Order. Hogan received a copy of the letter. Lightly creased with folds. Check mark by Hogan's name, diagonal line drawn through inside address. Staple holes at upper left corner. Fine condition. Ben Hogan (1912-1997), who had become the U.S. tour's leading money earner by 1940, won the U.S. Open in 1948, 1950, 1951 and 1953, the Professional Golfers' Association championship in 1946 and 1948, the Masters in 1951 and 1953 and the British Open in 1953. He is one of only five golfers to win all four Grand Slam titles; Nicklaus, Player, Sarazen and Woods are the other four. Hogan was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974. In 1953, he had opened Ben Hogan Golf, one of his many business interests, which included purchasing gas leases (as evidenced by this letter). Three items.
