Photograph signed: "Arthur Kennedy" and "Julia/Adams". B/w, 8x10. Still from Bend of the River (1952). Stage, screen and television actor Arthur Kennedy (1914-1990), born John Arthur Kennedy, was nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for Bright Victory (1951) and for Best Supporting Actor Oscars for Champion (1949), Trial (1955), Peyton Place (1957) and Some Came Running (1958), and he won the 1949 Tony Award for Best Supporting or Featured Actor (Dramatic) for Death of a Salesman. Kennedy, who began his career on the stage, debuted on Broadway in 1938, and two years later, while playing on stage in California, he was discovered by James Cagney, who cast Kennedy in City for Conquest (1940), the first in a long line of feature films. The versatile character actor's credits include High Sierra (1941), They Died With Their Boots On (1941), The Glass Menagerie (1950), The Desperate Hours (1955), A Summer Place (1959), Elmer Gantry (1960), Barabbas (1962), Lawrence of Arabia (1962), Cheyenne Autumn (1964), Fantastic Voyage (1966) and The Sentinel (1977). Kennedy also appeared in a number of TV anthologies from 1954, and he was later seen in made-for-TV movies. Although she appeared in more than 25 movies in the 1950s, JULIE ADAMS (1926-2019) is best known as the imperiled heroine of The Creature From the Black Lagoon (1954). Since the late 1950s, she has been primarily a TV actress, guest starring on such programs as Alfred Hitchcock Presents and, in the 1990s, many episodes of Murder, She Wrote. She also played Amanda Eaton in Yancy Derringer (1958-1959) and Jimmy Stewart's wife on The Jimmy Stewart Show (1971-1972). Bowed. Toned around edges. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
