BEND OF THE RIVER MOVIE CAST: JAMES STEWART and JULIA ADAMS James Stewart and Julia Adams sign a black and white publicity photograph of a scene from Bend of the River. Photograph inscribed and signed: "To George Torres/Best Wishes/James Stewart" and "Julia/Adams". B/w, 10x8. Initially titled "Where the River Bends", this 1950 western casts Stewart as a former outlaw, now working as trail guide for a group of Oregon-bound farmers. In this film, Stewart breaks away from his usual easygoing screen persona to play a tough, self-serving rugged individual. Adams plays Laura Baile, a farmer's daughter taken hostage. Look for Stepin Fetchit, Rock Hudson, Royal Dano and Frances Bavier in minor roles. JAMES STEWART (1908-1997) starred in more recognized masterpieces of the American cinema than any other actor. In 1940, he won the Best Actor Academy Award for The Philadelphia Story, and he was nominated for Oscars in the same category for Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), It's A Wonderful Life (1946), Harvey (1950) and Anatomy of a Murder (1959). Stewart, who was awarded an Honorary Academy Award in 1984, also appeared in You Can't Take It With You, Destry Rides Again, Rear Window, Vertigo, The Spirit of St. Louis, The Glenn Miller Story, The Greatest Show on Earth and a long list of other features. Although she appeared in more than 25 movies in the 1950s, JULIE ADAMS (1926-2019) is best known as the imperiled heroine of The Creature From the Black Lagoon (1954). Since the late 1950s, she has been primarily a TV actress, guest starring on such programs as Alfred Hitchcock Presents and, in the 1990s, many episodes of Murder, She Wrote. She also played Amanda Eaton in Yancy Derringer (1958-1959) and Jimmy Stewart's wife on The Jimmy Stewart Show (1971-1972). Creased. Overall, fine condition.
