BENEFACTORS PLAY CAST: GLENN CLOSE, MARY BETH HURT, SAM WATERSTON, and SIMON JONES
Black and white publicity photograph of a scene from the play Benefactors.
Photograph signed: "Glenn Close", "Mary Beth Hurt", "Sam Waterston" and "Simon Jones". B/w, 10x8 overall, image 8¾x6½ (one surface). Captioned at bottom margin. The four are pictured in a scene from the play by Michael Frayn (1984). Spanning a period of 15 years, Benefactors traces the intricate relationship of two neighboring couples. Jane and David are successful, happy professionals while Sheila and Colin are angry, insecure and isolated. Benefactors explores the interplay between politics and architecture, those who help and those who are helped, those who create and those who destroy. The production was staged at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Broadway (opened 22 December 1985, closed 29 June 1986); it received a Tony Award nomination for Best Play. Fine condition.
