Col./ Feb. 5.”. 4¼x2½ slip of paper on a 5x3 card. When he signed this, Jowett was employed at Balliol College in Oxford, possibly as Master. Benjamin Jowett (1817-1893) was a theologian and education administrator. He published a two-volume translation of Thucydides into English in 1881. He was a teacher at Oxford University before being named Master of Balliol College. Toned. Tears along larger 5x3 card. Note in unknown hand on outer card.
