Autograph letter signed "Bennett" in blue ink. 1 page, 4x6, on Cerf's personalized stationery from Random House. In full: "Aaron: I tried your card out on a Miss Frou Frou Lyons but she was sick and asked me to wait until she's back on her back. Thanks anyhow -". Lightly creased. Light dents at top edge. Folded once and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition. Accompanied by: Unsigned original mailing envelope from Random House stationery. 5¾x4½. Postmarked New York City, Sept. 30, 1968. Addressed to Mr. Aaron Sussman, Sussman & Sugar, Inc., New York City. Lightly creased. Envelope was neatly opened with paper loss on verso (no show-through). Otherwise in fine condition. Cerf (1898-1971, born in New York City) was a publisher who co-founded Random House, Inc. with Donald Knopfler in 1925, when they bought the Modern Library of Cerf's former employer, Boni & Liveright. Most people probably know his face from his frequent appearances on What's My Line? (1950-1967).
