BERNADETTE PETERS. Postcard Photograph signed: "Love/Bernadette Peters". Color, 4x6. Photograph by Carol Rosegg. Promoting the revival of the musical, Annie Get Your Gun, which opened on Broadway at the Marquis Theatre on March 4, 1999 and ran for 1,045 performances (closing on September 1, 2001). Peters won the 1999 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Annie Oakley, while co-star Tom Wopat was nominated for a Tony for Best Actor in a Musical for his role as Frank Butler. In 1999, Peters also starred in the feature film, Snow Days. Bernadette Peters (born Bernadette Lazarro in 1948) made her debut on the Broadway stage in 1979 (at age 11) in The Most Happy Fella. Over her Broadway career, she also won the Tony Award for Song and Dance (1986) and was nominated for Tonys for The Goodbye Girl (1993) and Gypsy (2003). In addition to her stage career, Peters also starred in several feature films, including the 1969 Joel Grey musical George M. The following year, she played Mabel Normand opposite Robert Preston's Mack Sennett in the musical comedy Mack and Mabel. Hilarious as a babaloo-ing cabaret entertainer in Silent Movie (1976, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress), Peters was even better as the long-suffering wife of goony Steve Martin in The Jerk (1977). She was reunited with Martin in Pennies From Heaven (1981, for which she won a Golden Globe). Peters also starred in a number of made-for-TV movies and musicals, including 1997's Cinderella (as the Stepmother), and appeared on a number of TV series, including Ally McBeal. Fine condition.
