Envelope signed: "B. A. Harris b.h.", 6½x3¾. American astronaut Bernard Harris was born
on June 26, 1956 in Temple. Texas. He received a BS in Biology from the University of
Houston in 1978, a doctorate in medicine from Texas Tech University of Medicine in 1982
and trained as a flight surgeon at the Aerospace School of Medicine at Brooks Air Force Base
in Texas. He joined NASA Johnson Space Center as a flight surgeon and clinical scientist and
served as project manager of the Exercise Countermeasure Project, He became an astronaut in
1991. Harris served as a mission specialist on STS-55 (1993) and STS-63 (1995),
becoming the first African American to walk in space during the latter flight. The author of
a memoir, Dream Walker, he heads the Harris Foundation, promoting youth education in
math and science. Fine condition.
