who played 14 seasons with the Montreal Canadiens and two seasons with the
New York Rangers between 1950 and 1968. Credited as one of the
originators of the slap shot, Geoffrion was an iconic figure on the
Montreal Canadiens, winning six Stanley Cup Championships, 5 of which were
consecutive (1953, 1956-1960). He is also an amazing 11-time NHL
All-Star (1952-1963, with the exception of 1957). He is the recipient of
many awards, including the Art Ross Trophy (1955, 1961), Hart Memorial Trophy
(1961) and the Hart Memorial Trophy (1961),
just to name a few. In 1972, in recognition of his outstanding play,
Geoffrion was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. On the day of his
death, March 11, 2006, the Montreal Canadiens honored Geoffrion by retiring
his number, 5. In the NHL, Geoffrion played 883 games, scoring 393 goals and
earning 429 assists. Very fine condition.
