BERRY KROEGER
Rare 3½x6 black and white photograph showing the actor in full
view
Inscribed Photograph signed: "To Violet/good luck/Berry
Kroeger", B/w 3½x6. Berry Kroeger (1912-1991) began as a radio actor,
playing The Falcon and The Shadow. He made several Broadway
appearances, the last being as the High Lama in the ill-fated musical
Shangri-La (1956). His first movie role was in William Wellman's The
Iron Curtain (1948). Possessing one of the screen's most sinister leers,
he soon established himself as a premier movie villain in crime dramas like
Gun Crazy (1949) and low-budget horror films like Chamber of
Horrors (1971). He was similarly cast on television, playing characters like
Benedict Arnold and the Nazi thug Ernst Roehm. He was cast as 7 different
characters in Perry Mason episodes, and he parodied Sidney Greenstreet in
a 1965 episode of Get Smart. Signature in poor contrast (still legible).
Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
