An actor, singer and radio and television announcer and host, Bert Parks (1914-1992), born Bert Jacobson, was best known for hosting the Miss America Pageant telecast (1955-1980). Parks, who was heard as a singer and straight man on The Eddie Cantor Show before becoming a CBS radio staff announcer, went on to host the radio game shows, Break the Bank (1945) and Stop the Music (1948). Both shows later aired on television, and other Parks-hosted shows of the early years of TV include The Big Payoff (1951), Double or Nothing (1952), Giant Step (1956) and Masquerade Party (Parks began on the show as a panelist and became host in 1958). Parks also had his own daytime variety show, The Bert Parks Show, and he guest starred on a number of TV series, from Burke's Law (1964) to Roseanne (1989). Lightly creased. ¼-inch tear at upper left edge. Fine condition.
