Typed at upper margin: "from: The Earl Russell, O.M., F.R.S." Plas Penrhyn, which is imprinted on this letterhead, was Russell's home in Wales. Welsh-born philosopher, logician, essayist and peace advocate Bertrand Russell (1872-1970), who penned a number of books and articles on the foundations of mathematics, logic and the theory of knowledge as well as analytic philosophy, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1950. Russell's works include The Principles of Mathematics (1903) and The Basic Writings of Bertrand Russell, 1903-1959. He would die at Plas Penrhyn on February 2, 1990 at the age of 97. Lightly creased with mid-vertical fold, not at signature. Slightly soiled. Fine condition.
