overall, image 3x4½ (one surface). Beth Howland (1941-2015) is a stage and
screen actress who was last credited in guest roles on The Tick (2002) andAs
Told by Ginger (2002). Her lengthy career began in 1959 as a performer in the
Broadway musicalOnce Upon a Mattress (1959). She earned her acting chops
on Broadway over the next 13 years, earning her last roles on stage in Company
(1970-1972) and its subsequent 1993 revival. In 1973, she earned the
opportunity to move to Hollywood, nabbing a role in television movie The
Ted Bessell Show (1973). After guest-starring in numerous television show
episodes throughout the mid-1970s, she caught her big break with a starring
role in Alice (1976-1985). She portrayed Vera Louise Gorman, a fellow waitress
of the titular character at the diner that provides the primary setting of the show.
