BETTY GRABLE
6½x8½ sepia image of Grable in fur wrap, signed in her flowing

Photograph signed: "Best Wishes/Betty Grable". Sepia, 6½x8½.
Chosen by the GIs in WWII as their number one "pin-up girl", Betty
Grable (1916-1973) appeared in a series of musicals and dramas in the
1940s and early 1950s. Fox publicity insured her legs with Lloyds of London
for one million dollars. Among her hits were Springtime in the
Rockies (1942), Mother Wore Tights (1947) and How to Marry a
Millionaire (co-starring Lauren Bacall and Marilyn Monroe). Grable, getting
ready to retire, cheerfully passed the mantle of Hollywood's leading sex symbol
to Monroe. Grable was married to actor Jackie Coogan and bandleader Harry
James.. Returning to the Broadway stage after her divorce, Grable was
successful as a replacement for Carol Channing in Hello, Dolly. Corners
worn and creased. Top edge lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
