(1921-2007) was singing with bands at age 13. She debuted on Broadway in
1940 (Two for the Show) and in film two years later (The Fleet's
In). Her best remembered film musical was Annie Get Your Gun
(1950). She left Hollywood after a contract dispute with Paramount in 1952,
but continued to perform on stage and make guest TV appearances. Later, she
returned to college, earned a master's degree and taught acting. HERBERT
PICKMAN (1910-1999) was a film publicist for Warner Bros., Twentieth
Century-Fox, and other studios. He numbered many film stars, including Betty
Hutton, among his friends. Sylvia Pickman was his wife. Cabaret singer
Hildegarde Sell (1906-2005), called "the First Lady of the Supper Club"
by Eleanor Roosevelt, remained an active entertainer into her nineties. She kept
guest rosters of prominent attendees at her shows. Lightly toned at edges.
