BEVERLY BAYNE and IGGIE WOLFINGTON
Beverly Bayne and Iggie Wolfington sign a guest register.
Signature: "Beverly Bayne 5 Ridgeview Drive, Pleasantville - N.Y.", and "Iggie Wolfington 1022 Park Ave N.Y.C. N.Y.", 9½x1¼. Cut from a guest register. "I love you" written in unknown hand in upper right, apparently by another guest. A popular actress of the silent screen, BAYNE frequently co-starred with Francis X. Bushman. (He was Romeo to her Juliet in the 1916 film version of Shakespeare's play.) Bayne and Bushman were secretly married in 1918 and very publicly divorced in 1924. Bayne virtually retired from films after 1925. She remained active on the stage, including five roles on Broadway. She reappeared in a minor film role in Naked City (1948). WOLFINGTON (1920-2004) made critically acclaimed Broadway appearances in Mrs McThing (1952) and The Music Man (1958), gaining a Best Featured Actor Tony nomination for the latter. He played supporting roles in films from 1966 (Penelope) to 1979 (1941). He made TV guest appearances from the early 1950s to the mid-1980s. As a soldier in World War II, Wolfington received a Purple Heart, a Silver Star and a battlefield commission. Slightly soiled. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso shows through lightly. Otherwise, fine condition.
