The tough girl actress pens "Good luck" on this 5x7 photograph
Inscribed photograph signed: "To John/Good luck/Beverely/Roberts", in black felt tip, Sepia toned 5x7. Beverly Roberts (1914-2009) got her start on the stage, with two appearances on Broadway between 1932 and 1933, but she broke into movies in 1936 after a Warner Brothers talent scout saw her singing in a nightclub. Roberts had a busy movie career, with over 20 movie acting credits - many of them starring roles opposite the likes of Humphrey Bogart, Joe E. Brown and Errol Flynn - between 1936 and 1941. Unfortunately, those starring roles tended to be thankless heroines or tough dames, and she never received top billing. Roberts returned to the stage after 1941's Mob Town. She appeared three more times on Broadway between 1942 and 1945 and had a few guest star appearances on TV. Corners slightly worn. Light surface creases. Pencil note (unknown hand) on verso. Fine condition.
