In 1993, soprano Beverly Sills (1929-2007) becamethe first womanand the first performing artist to become Chairman of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. She held the position until she stepped down in May 2002. Sills, who debuted at the age of three as Bubbles Silverman on Uncle Bob's Rainbow House radio show, performed with the New York City Opera from 1955 to 1980 and has sung in the world's leading opera houses. In addition to the many awards for her albums, including a Grammy Award, Sills received four Emmys for her weekly television program, Lifestyles with Beverly Sills, and two Emmys for the BBC special, Profiles in Music-Beverly Sills. Her autobiography, Bubbles: A Self-Portrait, became a bestseller. Corners slightly worn and creased. Slightly toned. Stained on top left margin. Otherwise, fine condition.
