Black and white photograph, standing in a field with his glove rose
for a catch.
Photograph signed: "Bibb Falk". B/w, 8x10. After appearing in
seven games for the Chicago White Sox in 1920, Bibb Falk (1899-1989) succeeded
the banished Joe Jackson in left field (1921-1928), averaging .315 and three
times topping 90 RBI. In 1924, he hit .352. Traded to Cleveland in 1929, Bibb
had three more .300-plus seasons, the last two as the AL's most productive pinch
hitter. Bibb was a lifetime .314 hitter, but ill health forced him to retire
after 12 seasons. From 1940-1967, he coached baseball at his alma mater, the
University of Texas. Falk's 468-176 record earned 20 Southwest Conference titles
and two national championships. Lightly creased. UPI photo stamp and file notes
on verso. Overall, fine condition.
