The actor pens a letter on this black and white 3½x5½ photograph, signed twice by the
western musician
Autograph Letter on Photograph Signed Twice: "Best wishes/to Joe Epstein/your pal,/Bill
Boyd" on front. On verso he writes "2-25-42 Dear Mr. Epstein : am leaving for Hollywood
today- Be there Friday would surely appreciate a card or letter from you out there. Wishing you
the best of everything sincerely Bill Boyd". B/w 3½x5½. Postmarked February 23, 1942. The
front of the card shows Boyd in a cowboy outfit with a rope and guitar by his side. American
musician William Lemuel Boyd (1910-1977) was born in Dallas, Texas. He performed with a
group called The Cowboys Ramblers from 1934 to 1951, recording over 200 songs. Their hits
included "Under the Double Eagle", "Fan It", "Wah Hoo" and "New Steel Guitar Rag". In 1942
he appeared in six western films Along the Sundown Trail, Prairie Pals, Tumbleweed Trail,
Rolling Down the Great Divide, Raiders of the West and Texas Man Hunt. Boyd has his own
star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Edges slightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
