BILL LORRAINE
The vaudeville entertainer and singer signs this handwritten letter to a writer asking that his name be mentioned when referring to his time with entertainer George Burns, who he calls "Nat Burns"
Autograph letter signed: "Billy Lorraine" in purple ink. 6x7. September 12, 1962. Written on personal letterhead to "Dear Louis" in full: "Thank you very much for the story in your column about me in regard to Nat Burns (my former Vaudeville partner). It's always nice to see something about oneself in print. Thank you again. But next time mention my name please. Friends sent me clippings from all over town. Yes Louis I've been here at the Gay 90s for ~7 years now- Quite a run isn't it. I've even out lasted Bill Hardy, who you know has retired, I get mail from Burns every once in a while. The Gang at the club all say "Hello" to you & my best personal regards to you and again thanks". Bill Lorraine was a vaudeville performer and actor. He was an early partner of comedian George Burns. The two had a song and dance act but it never gained popularity. Lorraine went on to perform at the Gay 90s club for many years and also appeared in the television specials This Is Your Life (1955) and George Burns' Early, Early, Early Christmas Special in 1981. Lightly toned. Corners rounded. Pencil note (unknown hand) near letterhead and circling signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
