Signature: "Bill Maynard", 6½x5. Bill Maynard (1928-2018) is the stage name of English
comedian Walter Williams, who made his TV debut in Face the Music (1953). He formed a
comedy team with Tony Scott, performing at Butlin's Holiday Camps and on the TV
program Great Scott, It's Maynard. His film career includes several in the Carry On comedy
series. He published an autobiography, Yo Yo Man (1975), and stood for Parliament in
1984 (as a protest to draw votes from M. P. Tony Benn). Despite health problems, he
returned to TV and stage, the guest of honor at an awards ceremony in Yorkshire in 2009.
