BILL MCINTYRE
The actor writes a heartfelt and appreciative letter to John Willis, Editor of Theatre World
Autograph letter signed: "Bill McIntyre", in black ink, 1 page, 6x8. Included is the original mailing envelope. August 11, 1978. New York City, New York. In full: "Dear Mr. Willis, Again I feel I must compliment you and your staff in the tremendous job you've accomplished. The latest Volume of "Theatre World" is - Well incredible - Each year theatre gets more diverse and eclectic and your job gets more detailed and complete. How you manage is beyond this "laymans" comprehension. The whole of the theatrical community owes you a debt of gratitude. Thank you - again". Bill McIntyre (1929-2010) is an actor of stage and film, first appearing in The Secret Affairs of Mildred Wild in 1972. He appeared in a few more Broadway plays after his premiere, including Legend (1976) and The Inspector General (1978). His work on television was more prolific, appearing in a number of television series, with a recurring role as Billy Joe Bates in Dallas (1989). John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges. Multiple folds. Surface creases, esp. bottom right corner.
