Autograph Letter signed: "Bill" (full signature in text), 1½p, front and verso, 8½x11. Fischer Chevrolet-Oldsmobile, Negaunee, Michigan, no date. To Gene (Schoor). In part: "I'm unable to locate my 'One for the Gipper' book, and I didn't get much time to look for some good football pictures…I'm enclosing the book on Hunk and a few pictures [not included]. One picture shows Geo Connor (grey Hair & no tie)- Ziggy Czarobski (center) and Bill Fischer. This picture was taken one month before Ziggy died-it was taken at N.D. when we recognized Zig as the Monogram Clubs Man of the Year (June 6, 1984). Incidently Connor, Czarobski and Fischer have been inducted into the College Hall of Fame. My teammates helped to campaign for my induction…." 100 Years of Notre Dame Football by Gene Schoor was published in 1990. He contacted as many Notre Dame football players as he could researching the fully illustrated book. Fischer captained the 1948 team that went undefeated, winning 9 games and tying 1. Bill Fischer (1927-2017) played 4 seasons with the Chicago Cardinals between 1949 and 1953. A 2-time All-American offensive lineman out of Notre Dame, Fischer was selected in the 1st round as the 10th overall pick in the 1949 NFL draft. His career highlights include 3 Pro Bowl appearances. The 1948 Outland Trophy winner, Fischer is an inductee of the College Football Hall of Fame. Lightly creased. Slightly nicked edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
