BILL ROMANOWSKI
One of pro football's all-time roughest, toughest players signs a replica Raiders jersey.
Football Jersey signed: "Bill Romanowski 53". Black and gray replica Oakland Raiders jersey
with sewn letters and numbers, signed in black felt tip on the "5" of his number 53 on the
back. After graduating with honors from Boston College, Bill Romanowski played in 271
consecutive NFL game over 16 seasons through 2003 with four clubs: San Francisco,
Philadelphia, Denver, and (in his final season) Oakland. He deliberately concealed several
concussions in order to stay on the field. He is the only linebacker to have started five Super
Bowls, four of which ended in victory. An intense competitor, Romanowski confesses in his
autobiography - Romo: My Life on the Edge (2006) - that he spent $200,000 a year on
doctors, herbs and supplements, including illegal but not yet detectable steroids - to prolong
his football career. (He was a customer of the notorious BALCO, the Bay Area Laboratory
Cooperative.) Romanowski was involved in many fights on the field, and was sued successfully
by former Raider teammate Marcus Williams, on whom he inflicted a career-ending punch in
the face. Accompanied by JSA Certificate of Authenticity (W57252) and authentication
sticker affixed to jersey. Fine condition.
