Bill Roth (1921-2003) was United States Representative and Senator from Delaware who served for over thirty years. In the Senate, Roth was considered a fiscal conservative who served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs (1981-1987) and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance (1995-2001); a strong advocate of tax cuts, Roth co-authored the Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981 and sponsored the Roth Individual Retirement Account Plan, which bears his name.
