Actual piece of the parquet floor of the Boston Garden, 8x4x1, affixed to
15x12 panel. Numbered on parquet: "42/100". Accompanied by printed
certificate signed in facsimile: "William F. Russell", attesting that he
personally signed this numbered piece. Playing his entire pro career with
the Boston Celtics, Bill Russell was key to making the Celtics one of the great
sports dynasties of all time, winners of 11 NBA championships in 13 years
between 1956-1969. He became the first Black NBA (and major U.S. sport) head
coach in 1966 and was enshrined in the Hall of Fame in 1975. In 1980, the
Basketball Writers' Association of America named him the greatest NBA player of
all time. The BOSTON GARDEN, built in 1928, was home to the Celtics and
also hockey's Boston Bruins until 1995. Panel slightly soiled. Bill Russell's
autograph is rare in any form. Fine condition.
