BILL SCOTT
AFTRA membership application signed by model Bill Scott with his legal name "William Scott" in 1963. Scott was the original voice of Bullwinkle on Rocky and His Friends and The Bullwinkle Show.
Document signed "Bill Scott" and "William Scott" in blue ink. Blue ink notations in unknown hand. 2 pages, 6x8½, 1 sheet, front and verso. With 6¼x3¼ initiation fee receipt carbon copy with perforated left edge stapled at top edge. Feb. 4, 1963. Membership form for the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. In 1963, Scott did voice acting work on the animated cartoon Fractured Flickers, including at least one turn as Bullwinkle. Scott (1920-1985) was the original voice of Bullwinkle on the Jay Ward cartoons Rocky and His Friends (1959-1960) and The Bullwinkle Show (1961), as well as the original voice of the titular characters on George of the Jungle (1967) and The Dudley Do-Right Show (1969). Scott served with the U. S. Army's First Motion Picture Unit during World War II, where he worked on animated cartoons. After the war, he worked at United Productions of America; his credits there include adapting Dr. Seuss' Gerald McBoing Boing into an Oscar-winning animated short in 1951 and the stories for numerous Mr. Magoo shorts. Scott became a voice actor after joining Ward on Rocky and His Friends; he was also one of the people involved in developing the show. In all, Scott appeared in 15 TV shows, most of them as a voice actor, between 1959 and his death in 1985, as well as almost 50 screenwriting and story credits between 1944 and 1986. He also wrote the story for the short The Phox, the Box and the Lox, a Fractured Fairy Tales short which preceded the 1999 live-action Dudley Do-Right movie. Lightly toned and creased. Receipt has carbon copy marks and was folded once and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
