The Major League infielder who played for four different teams during his
14-year career signed this baseball card
Sports Card Signed: “Bill Stein” in black felt tip pen. 2½x3½. Includes statistics
through the 1975 season and short biography on verso. Bill Stein (b. 1947) was
an infielder who predominantly played at 2nd or 3rd base, although he played
a few games at every fielding position but catcher throughout his career
(1972-1985). He played for the St. Louis Cardinals (1972-1973), Chicago
White Sox (1975-1976), the Seattle Mariners (1977-1980), and the Texas
Rangers (1981-1985). For most of his career he was the ultimate utility
player, able to play virtually any fielding position. He wasn't too bad in the
batter's box either, with a lifetime batting average of .267 and an on base
percentage of .313. Following his playing career, he embarked on a coaching
career, managing high school and minor league baseball teams until the
mid-1990s. Corners lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
