"BILLY BISHOP/and his/'Music from Mayfair'". Bishop organized his own
swing band in Toronto, Canada in 1931 after playing piano in the Bissett-McLean
Orchestra. His band, Billy Bishop and His Music from Mayfair, played in
Great Britain from 1933 to 1939, marrying his vocalist Alice Mann in 1937,
before traveling back to the United States and basing his band out of Chicago.
Big bands were dying out in the 1950s, so he hung up his bandleader's baton in
1953 and became a stockbroker for Merrill Lynch in Beverly Hills, California.
Lightly toned, creased and bowed. Lightly scratched on image (not visible
head-on). Otherwise in fine condition.
