The big bandleader signs a picture post card bearing a close up of
his face (3½x5½)
Picture post card signed: "Billy Cotton" in blue ink, 3½x5½.
British big bandleader Billy Cotton (1899-1969) was born in Westminster,
England. A World War I veteran who spent time as an amateur footballer and
race car driver, he formed the London Savannah Band in 1924. During World
War II, his band toured with the Entertainments National Service Association.
After the war, Cotton performed a BBC radio show, The Billy Cotton Band
Show, which ran for nearly 20 years. He also had an English
television program by the same name.
Lightly soiled. Pencil notes (unknown hand) on verso. Fine
condition.
