Photograph signed: "Love/ 'Crash'/Craddock". C. 8x10. Billy
"Crash" Craddock (born 1939 in North Carolina) became a rockabilly hit in
Australia before returning to America and switching to Country. Beginning his
career as an 11 year old talent contest winner on local television, and later
appeared on American Bandstand, he had limited success. In 1959, he went to
Australia with American teen stars Bobby Rydell and The Everly Brothers and
found he already had a no. 1 record there. As one of the most popular teen idol
there, he had several hits in the 1960s. After a break from music, he returned
as a country singer and had several hits in the 1970s - named Most Promising
Male Artist of the Year 1972 by Music City News Country, consistently hit
the top 10. He recorded his last 2 top 10 hits I Cheated on a Good Woman's
Love (1978) and If I Could Write a Song as Beautiful as You (1979) on
Capitol Records label. He has performed at the Grand Ole'Opry - one of his all
time career goals. Fine condition.
