Black and white publicity photograph of Billy Idol signed and dated in red ink
Photograph Inscribed and signed: "To Rosita Love/Billy Idol/4-92". B/w, 8x10¼ overall, image 7½x7¼ (one surface). Chrysalis promotional photograph, captioned at lower margin. Born in Middlesex, England, pop/rock singer Billy Idol (born 1955) was one of the first recording artists to find success through the newly created MTV. Idol, a former follower of the Sex Pistols, had formed his first group, Gen X, in 1976 and was signed by Chyrsalis shortly thereafter. The group released several albums between 1978 and 1981 before splitting up. Idol went on to success with such albums as Rebel Yell (1984), his biggest selling album, which reached No. 6 on the charts and went double platinum, and Vital Idol (1987, a No. 10 album) and had a No. 1 hit with "Mony Mony" (1987). His other hit songs include "White Wedding" (1983), "To Be a Lover" (1986) and "Cradle of Love" (1990). Idol found a new fan following after his cameo appearance as himself in The Wedding Singer (1998). Fine condition.
