Bing Crosby signs a document with RKO Radio Pictures, Inc. to
postpone the start date by one month.
Typed Document Signed: "Bing Crosby" in ink below "Agreed
To;", 1p, 8½x11. Los Angeles, California, 1944 March 30. Request in
letter form from RKO Radio Pictures, Incorporated requesting that they start one
month later than originally planned. In part: "This will confirm our
agreement in connection with the agreement of employment between us dated May 3,
1943: It is hereby mutually agreed that the date of April 1, 1944 referred to in
Article 2A of said agreement of employment is hereby postponed to May 1, 1944.
If the foregoing is in accordance with your understanding of our agreement,
kindly indicate this by signing in the space provided below." Harry Lillis
"Bing" Crosby (1904-1977) won the 1944 Academy Award for Best Actor for
Going My Way. He was also nominated for Best Actor Oscars for
The Bells of St. Mary's (1945) and The Country Girl (1954).
Known for his relaxed "crooning" style of singing, Crosby recorded more
than 1,600 songs that sold at least 500 million copies. His 1942 single of
"White Christmas" sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and was the
best-selling single in any music category for more than 50 years. Lightly
creased not affecting signature. Two file holes at upper blank margin. Purple
stamp at lower right. Overall, fine condition.
