Typed Document Signed: "Harry L. Crosby" in ink above "Employee Number Department", 1p, 8½x11. Beverly Hills, California, 1959 January 8. Request in letter form to Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation requesting that additional money be with held. In part: "I am desirous of taking advantage of the provision of Section 3402 (i) of the Internal Revenue Code allowing for withholding for Federal Income Tax purposes in addition to the amount normally required by the Internal Revenue Code. This letter is my request and authorization to you to take total withholding for Federal Income Tax purposes in the amount of Forty percent (40%) of my compensation paid by you to me, covering payments on 12/15/58, 12/22/58 and 12/29/58 only. Your acceptance of this letter shall constitute an agreement for such additional withholding as provided by the regulation of the Commissioner of Internal Revenue." Harry Lillis "Bing" Crosby (1904-1977) won the 1944 Academy Award for Best Actor for Going My Way. He was also nominated for Best Actor Oscars for The Bells of St. Mary's (1945) and The Country Girl (1954). Known for his relaxed "crooning" style of singing, Crosby recorded more than 1,600 songs that sold at least 500 million copies. His 1942 single of "White Christmas" sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and was the best-selling single in any music category for more than 50 years. Lightly creased not affecting signature. Staple holes at upper left corner, 2 file holes at upper blank margin. Overall, fine condition.
