Cage and Modine sign movie still from their acclaimed movie Birdy
Photograph signed: "Matthew Moodine" in blue felt tip and "Nicolas Cage" in black felt tip. B/w, 10x8. In Birdy (1984), MATTHEW MODINE (b.1959) played the title role as a disturbed Vietnam vet obsessed with birds. The film won the Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 1985. His other prominent film roles include Full Metal Jacket, Cutthroat Island, and Married to the Mob. Modine has had recurring and guest roles in the TV series The Bedford Diaries, Weeds, and Law and Order. In addition to Theatre, he is also active in environmental and political causes. NICOLAS CAGE, born Nicholas Kim Coppola in 1964, made his film debut with a small part in the 1982 classic, Fast Times at Ridgemont High. The nephew of director Francis Ford Coppola (and nephew of Talia Shire and cousin of Sofia Coppola), he changed his name to make his mark on his own. Following a lead role in 1983's Valley Girl, Cage spent the remainder of the decade playing endearingly bizarre and disreputable men, most notably in Peggy Sue Got Married (1986), Raising Arizona (1987) and the same year's Moonstruck, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe. The 1990s saw Cage take on a string of diverse roles ranging from a violent ex-con in Wild at Heart (1990) to a sweet-natured private eye in the romantic comedy Honeymoon in Vegas (1992) to a dying alcoholic in the astonishing Leaving Las Vegas (1996, Best Actor Academy Award). His other films include Con Air (1997), Face/Off (1997), City of Angels (1998), Gone in 60 Seconds (2000), Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001), Adaptation (2002, nominated for the Best Actor Oscar), The National Treasure films (2004, 2007) and World Trade Center (2006). Corners rounded. Light surface creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
