BISHOP JAMES A. PIKE
Signature of the controversial Episcopal bishop
Signature: "+ James A. Pike", 5x3 card. James Albert Pike (1913-1969) was the Episcopal Bishop of California (1958-1966). Unorthodox in his theology, Pike questioned such traditional Christian beliefs as the virginity of Mary, the Trinity, and the existence of Hell. In social terms, he pushed for ordination of women, acceptance of gay and lesbian congregants, and desegregation. He appeared on the podium during his march on Selma, Alabama. In his last years, Pike came to believe in contact with the dead, including his son, through a medium. Pike died lost in the Judean desert, searching for evidence of the historical Jesus. Fine condition.
