Autograph Note signed: "+ Ferdinand,/Bischof v. [Bishop of] Veszprém", 4½x6½. 1920 September 6. Page contains a fragment of a newspaper photo. On verso is a printed religious image. ANS (in German, translated): "For the remembrance of the holy confirmation at [place name illegible] on the sixth of September 1920". Nandor Rott (1869-1939), ordained a Catholic Priest in 1896, was bishop of the Hungarian diocese of Veszprem from 1917 to 1939. Nandor is the Hungarian equivalent of Ferdinand. In April 1921, Bishop Rott was reportedly involved in an unsuccessful plot to restore the last Hapsburg monarch, Emperor Charles, to the Hungarian throne. Adhesive and paper residue (previous mounting) at top section. Top right corner missing. Edges and corners worn and chipped. Soiled.
