Tryggvason (b. 1945) was a Canadian Air Force aerobatics instructor and a
meteorologist with advanced engineering degrees (applied math, fluid dynamics)
when selected in the first class of Canadian astronauts (1983). He was
Payload Specialist on the space shuttle Discovery's 12-day mission to
study changes in the Earth's atmosphere (1997). He has worked on development
of specialized scientific equipment for the International Space Station. In
2009, Tryggvason piloted a replica of Alexander Graham Bell's Silver Dart
on the 100th anniversary of the first powered flight in Canada and the British
Empire. Fine condition.
