BLAKE SHELTON. First Day Cover signed: "Blake/Shelton", 6½x3¾. FDC honoring Indian Art, 15-cent stamp affixed, postmarked Spokane, WA, September 25, 1980, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Gold foil seal embossed with the face on the Indian-head nickel affixed at lower left margin. Country music singer/songwriter Blake Shelton wrote songs as a teenager and performed in honky-tonks and on a local country radio show before packing up his guitar and heading for Nashville in 1994. In 1997, he met songwriter/producer Bobby Braddock, who produced Shelton's self-titled debut album. Shelton's first No. 1 hit, "Austin", remained No. 1 on the Billboard charts for five weeks, tying Billy Ray Cyrus' record for a debut single. Shelton also reached No. 1 in 2003 with "The Baby", which topped the charts for three weeks. He released a studio album, Blake Shelton's Bar and Grill, in 2004. The "Bl" of Blake and "S" and end of Shelton touch postmarks. Slightly rippled. Slightly soiled on verso, which has show through of embossing. Fine condition.
