BO DIDDLEY and OFFSPRING
Advertisement for a band led by Bo's children, inscribed by Bo and signed by three of his
kids
Advertisement inscribed and signed: "To John/From Bo Diddley/1983/R&B/Rock", "Kay
McDaniel", "Neil McDaniel", "Love/Always/Tammi/Deanne/'83" and one unidentified
signature, 1 page, 11x8½. Bo Diddley, born Ellas Otha Bates McDaniel (1928-2008),
pioneered the rock rhythm that influenced rock and rollers from Buddy Holly to the
Rolling Stones. Known for what he calls "that freight train sound", played on his
trademark square guitars, Diddley scored hits including "Bo Diddley", "I'm a Man", "Mona"
and "You Can't Judge a Book By Its Cover". Bo Diddley's children, who inherited his legal
name of McDaniel, included TAMMI DEANNE McDANIEL, KAY McDANIEL and
NEIL McDANIEL. In the 1980s they formed a band called Offspring, which also included
another daughter, TERRI LYNNE McDANIEL. The band did not endure, and biographic
information on the siblings is very scarce. The other signer here was probably a supporting
band member. Right edge ragged. Corners creased and lightly chipped. Lightly toned.
Otherwise fine condition.
