BOB ADDIS. Autograph note unsigned, 1p, 8¼x11. No place, no date. In full: "I think the major obstacle to overcome to be successful in major league baseball in 1950 to 1960 was the fact there were so many great ball players during those years. Many players that could be very successful in the majors today never made it." Addis was a reserve outfielder for four seasons in the National League with the (Boston) Braves, Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates. His best season was 1952, when he hit .295 in 93 games for the Cubs, but he was traded to Pittsburgh early in 1953 and played only 14 games in that, his last season. Addis did score the winning run for Boston in the eighth inning of a 1951 game which produced a freak record. The resulting argument cleared the bench, which included future basketball hall of famer and Celtics great Bill Sharman, just up from the minors. Sharman became the only roster player thrown out of a Major League baseball game without ever playing in one. Horizontal and vertical folds. Fine condition.
